Fundraising for Garrett County Habitat for Humanity

Coldwell Banker Deep Creek Realty is involved in many local fundraising activities for various charities such as PAWS, Landon’s Library, The Dove Center and many others. We are all very proud and honored to be able to give back to our community for the many blessings given to us. None of our efforts are more satisfying than our commitment to Habitat for Humanity in Garrett County. Our management and agents have dedicated time, labor and money to this wonderful cause. What better than a Christian group that helps people who would otherwise not be able to afford a home, get into new affordable housing.

Our goal for 2008 is to raise $10,000 for Habitat. Earlier this year, our management and agents donated over 60 hours of labor to our local board of Realtors® Habitat Work Day.

In May, we partnered with Smiley’s Pizzeria to hold a family fun night. Of course, our mascot, Russell the Retriever was there, as he is at all of our events. At Smiley’s he was joined by Smiley the Sun. Our agents provided the promotion and Smiley’s donated over $200.00 to Habitat between donations and giving 15% of their receipts to Habitat. Our rental department is selling “Miles of Smiles” tickets to Smiley’s Fun Zone at a reduced price, with profits dedicated to Habitat. Our event was so successful that we and Smiley’s have decided to make it an annual event.

In June, we will be distributing paper placemats to various restaurants in the area with advertising paid for by local businesses. 100% of the proceeds will go to Garrett County Habitat for Humanity.

Look for our first cookbook at the Garrett County Fair in August. Our agents, local restaurants and Garrett County notables have donated recipes for this fun publication which will include a special pet food section and “Just for Kids”.

Our year will culminate with a giant holiday craft show and Longaberger basket bingo on November 8th and 9th. All in all, it will be a very busy year for our fund raising committee as we work towards more homeownership for everyone in Garrett County.

"We are very proud of these sales associates, and happy for their success," said Ruth Seib, Broker/Co-Owner of Coldwell Banker Deep Creek Realty. "Our mission as a company is to support our associates in every way we can, in order to make Coldwell Banker Deep Creek Realty a pleasant and profitable place to work. The increasing success of our sales associates is evidence of our progress toward that goal."

Seib noted that several of the company award winners increased their production level over 2006, all the more remarkable in a year in which Garrett County as a whole saw a decrease in dollar volume in real estate sales, and a decreased number of transactions.
